Human Hair Extensions vs. Synthetic Hair Extensions

With all the rage about hair extensions, it is nothing more wonderful than being able to transform your hair from short to long in a matter of moments. But wouldn’t you like to know exactly what you are spending your hard earned income on? Remember, knowledge is power, so it is important to stay informed, especially if you are addicted to hair extensions.

SO let’s start with synthetic hair extensions. Synthetic hair extensions are cheaper and do not last as long as human hair extensions. These hair extensions also do not look as natural as human hair extensions. They are produced with man-made fibers and have an artificial looking shine. They also do not have a natural flow and bounce. Usually, you can only install and wear them once for maybe one to three months. Most synthetic hair extensions cannot withstand heat, so you can cancel curling or straightening them. Make sure you match them up correctly to you natural hair because they cannot be dyed. The style is chemically set and cannot be changed or trained. The only positive to synthetic hair extensions is if you live in a very sweltering and humid environment, you don’t have to worry about losing your curls or fizziness.  Even though they are a cheaper alternative to human hair extensions, if you wear hair extensions human hair is worth the investment.

Human hair extensions come in different grades and textures are more expensive than synthetic hair extensions, but look more natural to wear. Before I start discussing human hair extensions, I just want to clarify, if you purchase a low grade of human hair, your weave job may not come out the way you imagined. The highest grade of human hair to purchase is 5A grade human hair. It has been harvested from one donor and is virgin. Before you go getting your mind in the gutter, when they say virgin in the hair industry it means, never been chemically touched. The cuticle is aligned and flows in the same direction. The lowest grade of human hair is 1A. I would not recommend purchasing this grade of hair at all. It looks dry, brittle, and mattes very quickly. The only real difference between 1A grade and synthetic hair extensions is that you can use a curl or straightening iron. I would suggest purchasing 5A-3A 100% raw human hair extensions. They can last up to one year if you care for them the same way you would your own natural hair. Raw human hair extensions can be color treated or dyed. All human hair extensions can be curled or straightened. They’re also a number of styling options that you can chose with human hair extensions.

Ultimately the choice is your but if you are addicted to hair extensions, why not invest in the best quality for your money. Natural hair extensions can be installed more than once and with the proper washing and conditioning they can last up to one year. Remember knowledge is power, and that’s money in the bank!
